Creating a Japanese-Australian sculpture

As part of a Port Adelaide community art project, the Japanese students were involved in making a giant sculpture with a Japanese and Australian theme. The Japanese symbol was a Lucky Cat. The Australian symbol was a Rainbow Lorikeet. They made the frame out of cane, then covered it with paper and glue. The next day it was time to paint it with bright happy colours. The result was beautiful.

スコープチャー(作品)作り－日本とオーストラリアの統合

ポート・アデレード地域のアート・プロジェクトの一環として、日本人留学生たちが

「日本とオーストラリア」をテーマとした巨大なスコープチャー作りに参加しました。

日本のシンボルは『lucky cat』(招き猫)、オーストラリアのシンボルは『レインボー・

ロラケイト』（虹色の美しい鳥）でした。互いにアイディアを出し合い、決定した

ものです。製作には、２日かけました。初日、彼女たちは、木の棒を使って骨組みを

作り、薄い紙と糊で覆いました。翌日、糊は乾き、明るく楽しい色の絵の具で色を

塗りました。出来上がりは、とても美しかったです。
